On October 5, 2025, members of Pack 620 joined up again at St. Luke’s UMC to help with the Feeding the 5000 Food Drive. The Pack helped sort canned goods and other non-perishable food, filling up an entire truck! The Scouts, as always, had a blast helping out with this great service project. We look forward to doing another service project again in the spring.

Pack 620 joined up with Pack 870 at Chatfield for an overnight camping trip from Saturday, Sept. 27 through Sunday, Sept. 28, 2025. The Packs got together to host a raingutter regatta and an afternoon of fun Scouting activities before breaking off to host their own campout dinners and campfires.

Scouts Blew the Boats Down in the Raingutter Regatta!

Our Scouts and Scouts from Pack 870 had a blast at the raingutter regatta on Saturday, September 27, 2025. Scouts built their boats out of recycled materials, using their creativity and thriftiness. The Scouts then engaged in a fierce air-powered assault, using straws to blast their vessels down the gutters and across the finish line. The Scouts earned coveted Golden Rubber Duckies for their efforts! Looking forward to next year’s regatta.

🪢 Scout Game Fest and Ice Cream! 🍦🍦

Scouts from Pack 620 and Pack 870 enjoyed Scout skills and thrills Saturday afternoon as they participated in a variety of games. Tug of war, ring toss and knot tying… but the highlight of the afternoon was making ice cream in a bag! Pack 870 generously shared their treasured recipe with us. With a dash of salt, a little science, and some vigorous shaking, Pack 620 mastered the art of making ice cream in a bag—and it was a sweet game-changer. I have a feeling our dessert menu is about to expand significantly.

Taco ‘bout a Great Dinner!

Saturday dinner was tacos, nachos and quesadillas. Everyone got to make their own delicious combination of meat, cheese, or vegetables. Our grillmasters were hard at work grilling chicken and vegetables and keeping the food warm. The Pack also enjoyed salad and watermelon. So delicious!

A big thank you to all the parent volunteers that helped make this fall campout a huge success!

A huge thanks to all the older siblings of our Scouts who also helped out in numerous ways. You all embody the very best of Scouting.

Scouts from Troop 114G and Troop 633 opened our first Pack meeting of the year with the traditional flag ceremony. Our Cub Scouts got to see older Scouts perform the ceremony and learn some tips. Thanks to all the Scouts that participated!

Pack 620 held its first joint recruiting event on August 26, 2025 with three other Cub Scout Packs in Highlands Ranch—Packs 794, 870, and 872! We all had a blast sharing our love of Scouting with the families that came by. Our Pack had a fishing game, where kids could practice casting to try to catch the fish in our little pond. We also enjoyed some incredible ice cream in a bag from Pack 872, knots from Pack 870 and the six essentials from Pack 794. Can’t wait to do it again next year!

Scouts from Pack 620 marched again in the Highlands Ranch 4th of July Parade on July 4, 2025. We marched with Packs from around Highlands Ranch and had a great time. The kids ran out of candy as they handed it out along the parade route. We also handed out flyers with information on all of our Packs. This is definitely going to be a yearly tradition for us. Maybe a float?

On Sunday, May 25, 2025, Scouts and their families from Pack 620 helped to lay flags on the headstones at Ft. Logan National Cemetery. It provided us an opportunity to honor our nation’s veterans, including family members and friends, and reflect on their service on Memorial Day weekend.

On May 17-18, 2025, Pack 620 held our annual Crossover and May campout at Chatfield State Park. We had a fun-filled afternoon with games and other activities leading up to our Crossover, followed by dinner, and a campfire. Some highlights included:

Thanks to everyone who helped make this year’s Crossover and Campout a success!

In particular, our Crossover Committee and their families, and all the parents, Scouts, and other volunteers who helped out. Crossover Committee: Alicia Schalla, Emily Phillips, Kyle Marquand, Nicole Garrido, Suzie Voong, and Valerie Hopkins.

On May 10, 2025, several Scouts in Pack 620 went to Staunton State Park to get their Fishing adventure elective. Staff from Colorado Parks and Wildlife were really great, providing instructors for the Scouts, teaching them how to prepare their fishing rods and cast into the pond. After instruction, the Scouts tried their hand at fishing, catching and releasing trout in the Davis fishing ponds. Three Scouts—Ben, Charlie, and Massimo—each caught at least one fish. The rest of us were lucky to catch tree branches, rocks, and other local fauna in the pond. The Scouts had a great time. Thanks so much Colorado Parks and Wildlife for the instruction and gear. Also, a big thank you to Sean Brewer for organizing this trip!

On April 6, 2025, Pack 620 Scouts had a blast launching their rockets. Although a couple managed to land in trees and other areas, the majority of rockets were recovered and were launched again to great success. A big thanks to Cubmaster Kyle Marquand for assisting Scouts with putting rockets together, Asst. Cubmaster Nicole Garrick for managing the ordering and delivery of the rockets and to former Cubmaster Steve Dean for managing the launch pads. (Steve, we may be calling you next year for advice!)

On March 11, 2025, Pack 620 had to say goodbye to Cubmaster Steve Dean and Popcorn Kernel Lori Dean. They will be moving to be closer to family in Alabama.

Cubmaster Dean has served our Pack as a Den Leader, Assistant Cubmaster, and served as Cubmaster since 2021. He has planned and led exciting events for our Pack including campouts, the Rocket launch, the Pinewood Derby (those Dad jokes), the July 4th parade, as well as our monthly Pack meetings. We want to thank him for his years of committed leadership and dedication to Pack 620.

Popcorn Kernel Lori Dean has served as the Pack’s Fundraising Chair since 2021, leading the Pack’s efforts to raise money through popcorn and butter braid sales each year. Through her efforts, our Pack has increased its sales of popcorn each year and have doubled sales during her time as Chair. In 2021, we sold approx. $4,358 and in 2024, we sold $8,133. This has allowed our Pack to undertake several activities we would not otherwise have been able to afford, including having multiple campouts and CAP. We want to thank her for her tireless activity on behalf of our Pack.
